You Know Your Children Are Grown When . . . [Part V]

I’ve written on this topic several times in the past, but in recent months I’ve had more occasions to reflect on the benefits of having grown children.

You know your children are grown when

1. Both children call on your birthday, and you don’t think one reminded the other this year (though maybe . . . ).

2. Your daughter calls almost every day to check on her father, who recently had surgery.

3. Both children offer to jump on a plane to come help their parents. And one actually does come to visit, with the other planning a visit soon.

4. Your son is a better cook than you are (and enjoys it more).

5. Your daughter offers her advice on real estate issues . . . and her experience is more relevant than yours.

6. Both kids talk are absorbed in their work, as you were thirty years ago. Their conversations relate to many topics, but how busy they are at work is one regular theme.

So, yes, my children are grown, though still maturing. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What examples do you have that made you realize your children were grown?
